Return to the Physician's Corner - Osteonecrosis (MRI is very sensitive for early AVN )
- Soft tissue mass lesions
- Osteomyelitis (MRI with and without contrast is the initial test )
- Bone marrow abnormalities
- Primary or metastatic neoplasm
- MRI is being used to evaluate patients with prostate carcinoma and possible metastasis in the pelvic bones and spine. MRI is also very helpful to evaluate the possibility of spinal cord compression in patients with metastasis in the thoracic or lumbar spine.
